Wishmay announces the next feature: Services wanted

Introduction

Wishmay is one of my ideas that came to me while outside running a few years ago. The simple concept is that when someone wants to buy something, they search for it. They head over to Amazon or Ebay, etc. to look for the item that they want to purchase. But what if you don’t have time to search for the item? Or even worse, you cannot find the item you’re looking for at all? Wishmay was created so that a buyer can post any item and let the people with the item come to you. It is basically “buying in reverse.” The site soft-launched in November 2020 and was made more visible in February 2021 with a press release. Traffic and visibility up to this point has been minimal, but we do have around 50 items listed that people want to buy. The buying transaction happens on the Wishmay platform via a Stripe checkout, so sellers must have a Stripe account.

The New Feature

Along the same general theme that Wishmay stands for, we recognized that there are services that people want or need. We also recognize that there are many sources for people to use to find a contractor, freelancer, or some kind of service provider already. But just like finding items can be difficult, finding service providers can also be frustrating. They can be already booked when you need them or maybe they don’t respond to your inquiry at all. It can also be time consuming. Some of the sites that offer similar services charge the contractor/freelancer 10% (or more) commission, which often means the contractors charge the client more in order to compensate for that 10% commission. Our business model for this service will be a subscription for the freelancer/contractor, and it will be free for the service seeker. The subscription fee will be low compared to the commission fees charged by similar sites. But while we are in beta and for a short time after, the site is free to use for everyone. Unlike our “items wanted” section, there are no sales transactions on the site in the services section — it is between the buyer and seller to make those arrangements, and our goal is to bring the client and service provider together.

Other features

We do not have any other offerings planned at the moment, but anything new that’s offered will have to align with our brand and mission, which is that whatever it is you want or need, it comes to you rather than needing to search for it.

We are also working on mobile apps, and hopefully they will make it to the app stores in 2022.

Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about what we are doing with Wishmay. Check us out online at www.wishmay.com.
